About Training by Design

Training by Design Consulting delivers quality through a three pronged strategy and systems approach that consists of...

A versatile approach to performance improvement....

As a result of working closely with operations, quality assurance, engineering and human resources in a variety of host companies TBD was formed more than ten years ago to work closely with our clients to close any gaps that may exist between performance requirements and capabilities.

A spirit of collaboration...
Training by Design Consulting holds to the belief that collaboration yields improved individual and organizational effectiveness.  Not just through meetings and dialogue, but through constant consideration of what the other cares most about.  In other words, we invite and allow others' work to challenge and inform our own.

And partnering with outstanding professionals...
Through informal but committed partnerships, Training by Design Consulting can provide you with services and direction to a wide array of customized and standardized solutions that are designed to meet your current needs, while strategically preparing to meet the needs of tomorrow.

The Closed Loop Core Training Process

In our experience, we have come to realize that the results from evaluations of training effectiveness are only as good as was our initial assessment of what triggered the need for training in the first place.  And, we have also come to know that what seems like a need for training might not always be the case, once a thorough assessment of the trigger for the training request has been completed.

Importantly, multiple methods and higher level evaluation methods are preferred, but cannot always be achieved without predetermining them during the assessment and design stages.  Much the way it works with Shewhart and Deming's PDCA concept, the more effective the assessment, the more effective the design and delivery of the training and the resultant evaluations will be.  Evaluation results inform future assessments and ultimately, the overall quality and effectiveness of any training initiative.

Developed from tried and true practices for effectively managing classroom training, the ASTD Info-Line authored by Nancy Kristiansen describes how to develop a comprehensive Level 1 training evaluation program.
